RAILAY BEACH (KRABI)
Railay Beach, Krabi is a pristine stretch of soft white sand nestled against dramatic limestone cliffs. It is well-known among travelers, especially those who love rock climbing. Railay Beach is divided into East Railay and West Railay, separated by rocky headlands, with plenty of accommodations available for visitors.
Although many people often think of Railay as an “island,” it is actually part of the mainland. However, due to being surrounded by towering cliffs on all sides, the only way to reach Railay is by boat. This isolation has helped preserve the charm of the area, where local fishing villages continue to adapt to modern times while still maintaining their traditions and way of life.
Beyond its clear turquoise waters, Railay is also famous for its breathtaking sunsets. As the sun sets, its golden glow reflects off the cliffs and across the bay, framing rows of swaying coconut trees and fishing boats along the shore—a scene that feels like a tranquil paradise.
Another highlight of Railay is its world-class rock climbing. The limestone cliffs provide climbing routes suitable year-round, attracting climbers from around the world. Every April, a special rock climbing festival takes place, with popular climbing spots including East Railay, Tonsai Bay, and the cliffs around Phra Nang Cave Beach.
